Tanjung Tokong Beach Cleaning

Tanjung Tokong Beach Cleaning

It was a sunny day at the lovely Tanjung Tokong Beach together with 35 volunteers from RGB.

We travel together by bus to the rendezvous, and upon arrival, we were greeted by the helpful Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) staff. We were flabbergasted to see the MBPP team coming with all sorts of logistical assistance! From hand gloves, plastic bags, broomsticks, trash bins, wheelbarrow, RORO bin and other useful tools for our cleanup – impressive! Special thanks to our Majlis Bandaraya Pulau Pinang (MBPP) for providing us with the tools as well as their valuable time.

The amount of trash we collected is mind-boggling! Cigarette butts, straws, tissue papers, and plastic bags topped the list of waste collected – these are the top common items found during the cleanup last weekend. There is a satisfaction – I must say, even though we only managed to cleanup about 18-bag of trash from the beach! Even if it is only 18-bag, that’s the 18-bag of trash that is not going in the open beach.

We are glad that we are part of the cleanup team. It gives us a sense of satisfaction to see the beaches clean again.

After all the hard work, all volunteers relaxed and enjoyed the sumptuous meal provided by our organizing committee. We can’t thank you all enough for your terrific participation and your inspiring efforts for cleaning up the beach despite your busy schedule!
